Nests

I love birds. When I was little, my father always had birds in our home — canaries, bengal finches, mockingbirds, parakeets, even a parrot that once belonged to my grandfather.

Their songs and colorful feathers were a living part of our home.

Throughout my life, I’ve lived in 14 homes — 14 nests — because a home is a nest: a safe place to grow, to create bonds, experiences, and memories.

Each time, my nests have been built from recycled memories, tributes, inheritances, and objects that turn a house into a home.

The representation of home in an object like a nest is, for me, a way to honor my path and my story — a reminder of my safe place. The stones that accompany them have been collected from different places I’ve visited, symbolizing the cornerstone, the place that belongs to my “self” in that construction.

This is a work in progress — constantly evolving.
